The British Army issue Osprey ammo pouch is designed to fit onto the Osprey assault vest, Osprey body armour cover or any standard 25mm US MOLLE system. The pouch is the same dimensions as one of the pockets of the British Army PLCE Ammo pouch and will hold up to three SA80, L85, M4 or M16 Nato magazines. The pouch lid is a wraparound type to provide side as well as top and front protection for contents. The lid opens iwth velcro and a pinch type Spanish fly system similar to the one used in the German IdZ magazine pouch. This eliminates the problem of the plastic retainer being accidently retracted and the contents falling out. The pouch outer is made of 1000D military Cordura, fully lined internally with rubberised tarpaulin material. The front of the pouch is fitted with two 25mm wide MOLLE webbing straps to allow small utilities to be mounted if required. The rear of the pouch is lightly foam padded to give some protection against the pouch contents chafing on the body. The rear of the pouch is fitted with two MOLLE vertical straps which button down on to the body and two horizontal straps for interweaving against the MOLLE base.
