The British Army issue Osprey canteen pouch is designed to fit onto the Osprey assault vest, Osprey body armour cover or any standard 25mm US MOLLE system. The pouch measures 19.5x9.5x10cm and will hold the Osprey water bottle or can be used as a utility pouch for extra ammo, food and utensils, folded down thermal jacket, and other field essentials. Other water bottles that can fit in the pouch are the US 2 pint bottle and the German water bottle. The pouch lid is a wraparound type to provide side as well as top and front protection for contents. The lid opens with velcro and a pinch type Spanish fly system similar to the one used in the German IdZ magazine pouch. This eliminates the problem of the plastic retainer being accidently retracted and the contents falling out. The pouch outer is made of 1000D military Cordura, fully lined internally with rubberised tarpaulin material. The rear of the pouch is fitted with two MOLLE vertical straps which button down on to the body and two horizontal straps for interweaving against the MOLLE base.
