Developed in 1891 for consideration by the armed forces of Sweden and Norway, the 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser round is also known as the 6.5x55 Krag after the military rifles in which the cartridge was used. The bullet diameter is narrower than most of the other bullets in military use at the time, but its weight remains heavy due to its longer length. The combination of the thinner, but heavy, bullet head with a relatively large case produced a highly successful cartridge which outperformed many military rifle cartridges of the same era due to a reduced recoil and a flatter trajectory. In Norway, the cartridge was used in the Krag-Joergensen rifle Model 1894. In Sweden, the cartridge was used in the Swedish Mauser Model 1894 Carbine, and Model 1896 and 1938 rifles. It was also used in the AG M42 semi automatic rifle. The cartridge remains a popular hunting round in Europe for medium game. The inert round consists of one fired brass 6.5x55 case and one FMJ 6.5x55 head. To restore a shiny finish, gently rub in toothpaste or metal polish with a soft cloth. Please note that price is for ONE inert round.NB: All inert ammunition travelling OUTSIDE mainland UK must be shipped by international courier (eg TNT, DHL).
