The Blackhawk tactical range is acknowledged as one of the best non-modular tactical gear brands today. The Omega Elite Vest Phalanx HSV is the only one of the Elite series to retain the mesh back, lace sides and simple shoulders without emergency cutaway, This lower profile, less gear design is unique to this vest of all the Elite vests because of specific requirements from law enforcement tactical and SWAT team users who needed to be able to wear the vest under jackets and other clothing, unencumbered with extra depth of material, webbing and plastic furniture. The result is a combined operations vest for the law enforcement officer on either patrol or assault duty. The tactical vest provides platforms for ammunition storage for pistol, rifle and shotgun, expandable horizontal utility pouch, one EOD or medical toolkit pouch and ambidextrous shooting pads. The front of the vest can be unzipped and worn closed around the body, clipped together with the adjustable quick release buckles at chest and midsection levels. This allows the vest to be easily expanded for wear over body armour without the need for readjusting the vest to fit the body without armour. An expandable horizonatal pouch on the right chest chest allows for storage of extra ammo or general utilities. Two standard magazine pockets on the left hand side give plenty of ammunition carriage space for M4, M16, L85, or standard Nato magazines and an angled CS spray and handcuff pouch are located on the left hand side behind the ammo pouches. This position reduces the likelihood of these items being drawn by someone other than the operator wearing the vest, and the pouches are mounted for either crossdraw with the right hand or same side draw with the left hand. The upper left side has two pistol magazine pouches mounted horizontally to maximise load carrying space while leaving plenty of free space on the upper shoulder for the shooting pad. The right hand side side has one horizontal shotgun shell pouch capable of holding approximately 8 12-guage shells. The lower right hand side of the vest has one toolkit pouch as found on the Omega Medic pouch. This is a bulgy, multi-pocket pouch which is ideal for carrying a small tool kit or medical technician's aid kit. The vest is mesh backed for ventilation. Belt loops are provided at the bottom, however, the vest does not come with a belt. Size adjustment range over shoulders is up to 6 inches and range around the waist is up to 14 inches. This makes the vest suitable for standard heights from 5'8 to 6'1 and waists from 28 inches to 42 inches. The vest opens centrally with a 10YKK Vislon zipper which is a chunky zipper resistant to non-operation due to damp and dirt. D-rings are provided over the shoulders for attachment of comms, hydration gear or one point sling use. The rear mesh back has an internal pocket for insertion of a hydration bladder which is not included. The vest and pouches are made of 1000D military grade Cordura nylon for excellent dirt, damp and abrasion resistance. Vest is available in Black. Accessories shown are for illustration purposes only.
