The 577 450 Martini Henry was the successor to the 577 Snider round which was originally adopted by the British Army around 1867. The 577 450 bottlenecked the earlier cartridge down so the bullet diameter is around .455 inches, instead of .570 inches on the Snider round. The 577 450 Martini Henry became widely distributed to all arms of British and colonial forces after 1871. Originally, Martini Henry cartridge casings were also made from coiled brass, but after 1887, solid drawn casings became standard, and a cordite smokeless cartridge came into service from 1903. Case is made from spun brass. Price is for one round only. Rounds must travel with courier.
